After Eyebrow Procedure
The Result and Healing Process
The final result depends on may factors, the type of skin (oily, dry, combination), the client’s ability to follow the aftercare instructions, and any medical conditions.
If a client follows the aftercare instructions and there are no medical conditions that affects the healing process, the retained pigment color is between 40 to 50% by the touch up appointment (4 – 6 weeks from the initial appointment).
Generally What to Expect from Day 1 to Day 10:
Skin healing rate differs from one person to another. The following is what typically happens:
Day 1 – 2. The eyebrows are approximately 20 – 25% bolder in color and size. There will be light swelling and redness.
Day 3. Eyebrows will begin to itch and will appear thicker still. **Do not scratch, you may tap them lightly to alleviate the itch.**
Day 4 – 5. The skin begins to flake and peel, when flaking happens colour will appear soft and grey. Not to worry, the color will come back a bit darker.
Day 6 – 9. Colour continues to appear lighter than final result.
Day 10. The colour begins to stabilize and show through. The colour will be set when the healing process completes in about 4 to 6 weeks.
The failure to follow the aftercare instructions provided in the Phibrows Aftercare Sheet below, will result in lost of colour or discoloration, and will require more than one touch up to remedy.
A few things to note:
Lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery and other procedures, and age of skin all contribute to fading. Though rare, infection is possible. If you see signs of infection such as persistent increased redness or swelling, fever, drainage or oozing, contact your doctor immediately.
Keeping your hands clean, avoiding touching your eyebrows, and following the aftercare procedures properly will help prevent infections.
Duration
Duration of the pigment will depend on aftercare, lifestyle and the type of skin. Typically it will last for about 12 – 18 months. A touch-up is recommended within 12 months, at the annual touch-up rate.
Aftercare Instructions
For combination, dry and normal skin, your artist will recommend the moist heal.
Day of procedure
30 minutes after the treatment, rinse the eyebrows with soap pads given to you by your artist. Do not use any other soap. Wipe off the soap with damp cotton pad, then pad dry. Apply a very thin layer of the ointment provided to you.
Wipe your brows with water and apply the cream every 2 hours after the initial 30 min wash, until sleep time.
For Normal and Dry skin, at night, put a plastic foil over the procedure area to keep from drying overnight.
** The ointment provided to you has a 10 day supply of 3 to 5 times a day. After the 1st day, you do not need to apply as often, so half of the container should be left by the end of the 7 days. Please apply only a very thin layer – half of a grain of rice and no cream visibility on the Q-tip. This has proved to have the best pigment retention between 50% to 80%**
Day 2 to Day 7
Maintain facial hygiene. Wipe the brow area with water and apply cream after: Once in the morning. Once in the afternoon. Once before bed. It is ok to get the brows wet, pat dry immediately when wet and avoid using soap, makeup or any other creams in the forehead area for 7 days.
Avoid sweat, sauna, facial massage, and steam for the next 7 days.
